President and owner, Carl founded Howard Design Group, Inc., in 1982 after a course of time as an art director and in sales and marketing. Carl’s vision for the company included it becoming a full-service group, and in 1988 he added staff and formed strategic partnerships with professionals in marketing and programming to see that vision become a reality.

Carl created an education service division of HDG in 1993 to better serve the education community. HDG’s mission was further expanded in 1994 to include the capabilities for providing both design and technical services on the Internet for the firm’s corporate and academic clients. Carl has also been the primary moving force that has recently taken HDG into the Web 2.0 marketplace.

Outside of work, Carl is a volunteer coach for girl's softball in his hometown and serves as a referee for 5th and 6th Grade Girls Recreational Basketball. He also coaches basketball, soccer, and track for the Special Olympics program. Carl is an avid golfer; the lead singer in a band; and continues to play pick-up basketball.
